Frequently Asked Questions

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a process where objects are created layer by layer from a digital design. It involves using materials such as plastic, metal, or resin, which are heated or cured and deposited precisely according to the design specifications. This technology allows for the creation of complex shapes and structures that might be difficult or impossible to make with traditional manufacturing methods.

Broadly speaking, consumer 3D printing uses different types of plastic or resin to produce the final products. Here at Around, we primarily use a material called PLA (poly lactic acid), which is easy to work with and produces consistent high quality results.

We source all of our material from an Australian owned and operated supplier.

Yes, 3D printing is a very sustainable way of producing makes. The technology involved in 3D printing has come a long way in ensuring quality products every time and reducing the waste associated with parts production. Additionally, many 3D printing materials are very eco friendly.

Here at Around, all the materials we use are sustainably produced, and are made primarily of corn starch. This means that the resulting products are biodegradeable (though they will still last a very long time!).

Absolutely! We love making custom orders, and will work closely with you to come up with a design and price that meets your needs. We have done everything from store signs, to wedding decorations, and custom dragons. If we can 3D print it, we can make it for you!
